WORK IN PROGRESS!
Intro[edit]
This is a guide to build the lighting set-up for a DETOLF display cabinet as shown by a German user here. His guide is not quite as detailed and as such I wanted to rewrite it to make some of the things clear.
I found a gif he made of his finished product, and wanted to recreate it.
Requirements[edit]
This is for one(1) DETOLF cabinet.
- ~5 meters of 2 pin LED strips, so no RGB, only solid color. (Get these from China, 3eu/meter.)
- 1 12V transformer, about 5A/60W per cabinet. (Get these locally, or from China.)
- 3.68 meters of 15x15mm aluminium L profile, buy pieces of minimal 1 meter, or longer, but in pieces of 1 meter. (Get these from your local hardware store.)
- 4 meters of double sided tape, make sure it is less than 15mm wide. (Get these from your local hardware store.)
Part 1[edit]
Measure twice, saw once.
Per 1 meter, measure out: 29cm, 34cm, and 29cm. These are the pieces you'll need for one shelf.
Make the cuts between the 29cm and 34cm pieces at double 45 degree angles. File:ExampleImageOnHowToSaw
Part 2[edit]
Sanding the connections.
Remove the bottom back two screws that hold and tighten the metal pillars. Sand the thread to bare metal, so the coating is gone. File:ExampleImageOnHowToSandBottom
On each level sand a piece on top of of the horizontal bar in the back, do this for each side. File:ExampleImageOnHowToSandHorizontal
